Gov. Ron Desantis announced his Phase 1 outline for our state to begin it’s recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic. The FSOMS is grateful for the many leaders in our industry and specialty who have worked along side the Governor in helping develop this plan. In particular the FDA has been instrumental in ensuring the concerns of our entire dental community have been heard and addressed. As a component of this plan elective surgical procedures including dentistry may resume on May 4 statewide — including Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties.

The FSOMS recognizes the many challenges ahead as we continue to combat the Covid-19 threat as we resume patient care. It’s important to recognize the significant concerns that continue to exist and we must remain diligent in our approach to continue to protect or patients, staff and communities. The ADA has developed a Return to Work Interim Guidance Toolkit which I encourage everyone to review in detail in order to best prepare for a safe return to business.
The FSOMS will continue to monitor the recovery of our state and nation and provide updates regarding any impact or recommendations for safe practice as we move forward. Thanks again to everyone involved in this process as we cautiously resume the safe and necessary care of our patients.
