Protect Our Specialty by Supporting FLOMSPAC

Dear Fellow FSOMS Members:

‌The Florida Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons Political Action Committee (FLOMSPAC) was established by FSOMS more than a decade ago, with the purpose of raising awareness of the profession and giving our association an opportunity to support both incumbents and emerging candidates seeking election in the Florida House and Senate.

‌By making donations to these candidates, we not only support the campaigns of individuals who support our issues, but it also provides us opportunity to engage in an educational campaign to raise awareness of our specialty and the unique issues our doctors encounter day to day within their practice. Maintaining and fostering relationships with Florida’s elected officials outside of the annual Legislative Session helps to keep our issues and concerns at the forefront when these topics arise, and encourages Legislators to consider us as thought-leaders and their personal points of contact whenever a question, problem, or legislative initiative which may impact our industry arises.

For the 2024 campaign cycle, we donated a total of $43,500 to 52 candidates and parties in both the House and Senate.  After the General Election a final election results report will be distributed by our team at GrayRobinson in the days following the election.

‌As is so often the case in the current climate, once one campaign ends, the next immediately begins. FLOMSPAC needs to prepare for the 2026 Elections, at which time Florida will be electing a new Governor, a new Chief Financial Officer, a New Attorney General, and a (potentially new) Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services, as well as replacing at least 25 (out of 120) House members and six (out of 20) Senators who will be vacating their seats due to term limits. We need to be prepared.

‌In recent years, we have witnessed a sharp decline in membership participation of FLOMSPAC. Our 2024 giving plan now leaves us with only $25,875 in reserves. We need your support to replenish our funds and remain engaged through the next two years and beyond.

‌We respectfully request that each member consider donating at one of the following levels:
1. GOLD $1,000
2. SILVER $500
3. Bronze $250
‌
Donations are voluntary, and can be contributed in any amount above or below these suggested levels, but member participation is essential to our ability to protect our specialty.

‌If you have any questions, or would like any additional information on FLOMSPAC, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
‌
William Storoe, DDS, Chair
